You and your doctor can decide which balloon to choose. After the procedure, you can return to your normal life after being under observation for 1-2 hours. If you receive anesthesia, you should not drive that day.
1- 6 Months Old Gastric Balloon
İs applied by endoscopic method. It is not surgery. An 8-hour fast is required as you will receive anesthesia and your stomach should be empty. The process takes about 20-25 minutes. After you are completely asleep, first an endoscopy is performed and it is checked whether there is an obstacle to placing a balloon in your stomach. Afterwards, the deflated balloon is placed in the stomach under direct vision with endoscopy and inflated with a certain amount (400-600 cc) of blue colored saline. This balloon can stay in the stomach for a maximum of 6 months. Then, with the help of endoscopy, the liquid inside is drained and the balloon is removed.
2- Adjustable Gastric Balloon (Spatz Gastric Balloon)
This gastric balloon is also applied by endoscopic method. Its advantage is that it can stay in the stomach for 1 year. It is also a type of balloon suitable for progressive inflation to increase patient tolerance. In the first stage, when it is inflated with 400 cc liquid and weight loss slows down, 200 cc more inflation can be done. In the same way, at the end of 1 year, while the patient is completely asleep, the liquid in the balloon is emptied by endoscopy and removed from the mouth.
3- Swallowable gastric balloon (Ellipse Gastric Balloon)
It is a capsule-shaped balloon. It's about the size of an antibiotic and has a thread-like connection on the back that connects to the capsule. It does not require endoscopy and anesthesia. In practice, the person swallows the capsule easily with water. After making sure that the capsule has descended into the stomach under the X-ray device (X-Rey), the balloon is inflated with its own special liquid of 550cc. After the balloon is inflated, the rope-shaped attachment point is pulled apart and the process is terminated. The effect of this balloon is 4 months. The enzymes in the special liquid inside the balloon melt the balloon at the end of 4 months, causing it to burst. The balloon leaves the body naturally through the intestines. At the end of 4 months, the procedure can be repeated if necessary.
